Jason Brockert is a painter and faculty member at the Rhode Island School of Design. He spent much of his youth exploring the woods around his home in Holliston, Massachusetts, and watched that rural town turn suburban in the span of a single decade.
That transformation, and the landscape it left behind, fuels much of his current work. A graduate of RISD's European Honors Program in Rome, Jason exhibits across New England and is represented in collections in both
the US and Europe.
The paintings featured at Fieldwork Vermont come from Brockert's ongoing exploration of the woods around his New England home. Dense, layered, and grounded in direct observation, they share Fieldwork's interest in what close attention to a familiar place can reveal
